A meeting has been organised for 25 April to introduce the Healthier and More Sustainable School Meals (MEMSS) project. Open to all Barcelona’s schools, it will take place at the Casa de l’Aigua from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm, and will be aimed at management and teaching teams, families, catering companies, kitchen staff and firms managing the lunchtime space (monitoring).

Jointly developed by the Barcelona Public Health Agency, Barcelona City Council, and the Barcelona Education Consortium, the MEMSS project seeks to promote transformative improvements in schools. These include encouraging the consumption of seasonal, local, organic vegetables, promoting the consumption of plant-based protein, revitalising canteen committees, and getting the educational community in general involved. In addition to introducing the project, the aim of the conference is to enable the schools participating to share their experiences.

Lunch will be from 1.30 pm to 2.30 pm, and the menu will highlight the importance of using seasonal, local organic produce. The meal will be provided by the Chef 2030 network (cooks working in schools).

Registration is now closed, and over 100 people will be participating.
