Taking part in the fair, which is being held on 5 and 6 March in the lobby of the Municipal Sports Centre at the Estació del Nord bus station, will be 24 craft cheese makers, who will be offering citizens their products. Visitors will be able to sample cheese boards prepared especially for the occasion, as well as Penedès PDO products, co-sponsors of the event, together with Gastroteca.cat.

At the same time, a programme will be included that is linked to sustainable food and local production, through conversations with professionals from the sector, such as Carme Ruscalleda, Tana Collados, Pep Palau, Carme Gasull and Josep Sucarrats, as well as guided tasting sessions and cookery demonstrations. The fair will also be available in a virtual format, from 24 February to 8 March, for all those unable to take part face to face, with “Qualla Barcelona hampers” on sale from the  website.

The aim behind this meeting is to introduce and showcase the work carried out by local craft producers and promote a more direct relationship between small producers and end consumers, reducing the chain of intermediaries and the resulting local and environmental impact. This is one of the areas of work included under the Barcelona Sustainable Food Strategy for 2030, which Barcelona City Council is preparing in coordination with numerous city stakeholders.
